Creating a Detection - Weeds
Getting Started
- Select the “Analysis” tab from within the main Solvi interface.
- Click on the “Plant AI” menu.
- Click the “New” button, then select “Create Detection with Plant AI.”
- Choose “Weed Detection”, then click “Continue.”
Selecting Weed Samples
- Zoom in using your mouse wheel or the zoom control buttons. Focus on an area of your field that contains relevant weed samples you want to count.
- We recommend to include some elements or other plants that you DON'T want to count to help the AI learn to differentiate.
- Once zoomed in, use either the square, circle or polygon tool to draw an annotation around three representative examples of the weeds you wish to count.
- If the weed shapes are approximately the same size, then use the square tool, otherwise for more varied shapes and large patches, use the polygon or circle tool.
- A bounding box will appear in which you will create more sample annotations.
- You can use the "Shift" key with the polygon tool to draw a free form shape
- Click the magic wand icon to automatically detect additional weeds within the bounding box.
- If the results look good, you can keep them.
- If not, use the Undo button or the Select tool to delete incorrect selections.
- If necessary, use the circle or polygon tool to annotate any missed samples.
- NOTE It’s important that ALL weed samples within the bounding box are annotated.
- When satisfied with your selections, click “Continue.”
Finalizing and Running the Model
- A new window will appear showing a test area to verify the accuracy of your AI model.
- By default, this area will contain relevant samples.
- You can move this box to a different part of the field if desired.
- Click “Run Detection” to begin the AI training process.
- This may take some time depending on field size.
- Click “Notify Me” to receive an email once processing is complete.
Reviewing Detection Results
- Once the processing is complete, a new window will appear where you can check the accuracy of the results.
- If satisfied with the accuracy, click “Continue with Whole Field.”
- The processing window will appear again, where you can opt to be notified by email once the entire field has been processed.
Improving the Model
If the accuracy is not what you hoped for (e.g. false positives or missed weeds), follow these steps:
- Select the “Provide More Examples” button, then click “Add Examples.”
- A bounding box will be created.
- You can move the box to another area, or start adding more samples where it is.
- Use the magic wand as before (if available) or click “Get from Latest Result” to load annotations from your previous detection.
- Use the Circle, Polygon or Square tool to add further examples as needed.
- Once samples are annotated, you can either:
- Click “Continue”, then run test detection as before, or
- Click “Add Examples” again to continue annotating more samples.
Repeat this workflow of reviewing and annotation until you are satisfied with the accuracy. Then click “Proceed with Whole Field” to move to the next stage.
Analyse and Price Summary
- With the Plant AI model successfully trained, proceed to refine your request in the “Analyse Whole Field” window.
- If desired, select the “Row and Gap Analysis” option (more info on this *here)
- Refine the field boundaries to ensure you don't spend credits on irrelevant areas.
- Hover your mouse over the vertices of your field area and adjust them as necessary.
- You can create new vertices for irregular geometry by clicking at any point along the lines.
- The price summary will update based on the selected area.
- Once satisfied, select “Run Detection.” The processing window will appear again.
Completion
Congratulations! You’ve reached the end of the PlantAI workflow and can now proceed to analysis window. The Analysis Window
